My second string quartet was commissioned by the Caramoor International Music Festival, on behalf of the Amphion String Quartet, for "A String Quartet Library for the 21st Century".
It was premiered on July 19, 2013 at Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts

Note: In a short fragment entitled ÒFarfallettinaÓ, Rainer Maria Rilke ponders the violent death of a moth, Òlike a miniature lady who is having a heart attack on the way to the theater.Ó The idea of beings that are tiny, fragile, easily broken, yet inconceivably beautiful Ð like moths Ð captivated me as I was working on this new string quartet. In it, I attempt to answer in the affirmative RilkeÕs question, ÒIs there a theater for such fragile spectators?Ó
