Sir Martin Burton, returning in 1813 from the Peninsular campaign to his fatherÕs house in London, finds that his father has died, and has left behind many debts. His estranged grandmother passes away soon after and Sir Burton's attendance at the reading of the will in Somerset triggers events that change his life forever.
