Crying out, slumping against heavy doors in the driving rain, Sinetta and Astro begin their days at SurvivorÕs Academy. The sisters do indeed find help there, training to become a master conjurer and cleric. They are thrown together with Tonopa, a hot-tempered creature with so many bloodlines no one wants him, the beautiful and gracious elf Namin, and Castrone, a narcissistic bully who will only be satisfied when blood begins to flow.
When animals began disappearing in the woods outside the school, the students come to the chilling realization that a dark force surrounds them, a force that can corrupt as easily as it kills. The survivors will need every skill they learned to keep their school from breaking apart, brick by brick, and losing those they care about the very most.
