When the Native boy Quagwa goes to stay with his grandfatherÕs friend Mrs. Binnie, he faces a whole lot of new challenges. First, there is town life, which is very different from life in the forest. And there is school . . . and young Miss Grimsby, the teacher . . . and the other children. Most everyone is friendly, except for the school bully, Bull, and his sidekick, Scratch.
Bull is determined to put Quagwa in his place; better yet, to get rid of him altogether. Bull makes schemes, Scratch helps to carry them out, and Quagwa retaliates with pranks, all in good funÑat least for Quagwa. But BullÕs mind is made up.
Just when it looks as though all is lost for Quagwa, Mother Nature steps in and changes everything.
