This line of the Bond Family came to the colony of North Carolina from England before 1695. Those who became the Texas Bonds, trickled down the east coast, into what would become the states of Mississippi and Louisiana and then, into Texas, in 1842. Robert Bond and his sons were the first of our Bonds in Texas. This book focuses on the descendants of Robert's son, Jesse R. Bond (born 1826) and Margaret "Mary Ann" Hester (born 1833), who were married in Smith County, Texas, in 1847.

Starting with Jesse and Mary Ann, this book documents five generations. Some of their descendants remained in Texas, but others continued as far west as California and now are scattered here, there, and yonder.

The information in the "The Bond Family in Texas" is gleaned from decades of library and archive research by the author and contributors, family history, first-hand knowledge, and publicly available sources cited with attribution.

The author, Teresa Nyquist Tucker, belongs to the 5th generation covered in this book, as a great-great-granddaughter of Jesse's and Mary Ann's.

The book has individual entries for 576 Bond family and associates, 406 photographs, and has an index containing 470 family surnames and 1,480+ individuals. There is an Outline Descendant Tree of the five generations, as well. Genealogy galore! July 2024 Edition.
