This sketch book came during my senior year of my undergraduate work. It begins with a schematic sketch of the Baker residence and ends with a similar schematic sketch of the Baker residence. It represents the height of my available time to focus on the pure act of exploration and contains many topics that require further development. In saying this I do not mean that in future volumes, even after the publishing of the current, that I will not have the time to explore and design. For that is what design is, an exploration. I simply mean that this particular volume took place during a period of my life that allowed time to focus whole heartedly on topics outside the realm of traditional architectural education. Some of the larger work that is represented in this volume are the following: the initial design for the Modern Monastery, the exploration of the design for an inexpensive working Orrery, the design for the Cooper, Liestenfeltz, and Baker residences, a sailboat, a globe stand, and many others.
