When a vat of white hot metal spills on him, foundry worker Pat DempseyÕs life is changed forever.
Instead of being killed, he experiences an unexplainable chemical reaction. His skin becomes like
blue metal, and he bursts into flames whenever he is exposed to heat or electricity. He leaves the
foundry and begins work as a private investigator, solving crimes and fighting evil as MAN OÕ
METAL.
In his human form Pat Dempsey is as vulnerable as any other person, but when he uses his powers
as MAN oÕ METAL he is on fire as well as being able to melt bullets and grenades. He can also
breathe underwater and is bulletproof.
MAN OÕ METAL first appeared in REGÕLAR FELLERS HEROIC COMICS #7 which appeared in July of
1941. REGÕLAR FELLERS HEROIC COMICS lasted fifteen issues. Issue #16 saw the comic rebranded to
HEROIC COMICS, which gradually shuffled its super hero features to the back of the book, in favor of
war stories. MAN OÕ METALÕs final golden age appearance was in HEROIC COMICS #28.
