Fu Manchu is a man of mystery. He is a killer for hire, a drug lord, a spoiler of people's souls. And, yet, as he grows old and tired, he muses on his life.
In this short story Fu and his arch nemesis, Denis Nyland Smith, discuss their missing of Dr. Petrie whom chronicled many of their combined exploits. During this session, Fu lets Smith know that he is now dying and feels a need to atone for his former sins against mankind.
The two men make lists of all his evils and both are surprised at the lack of overlap. The final list is much longer than either would have thought,
This send them on a journey to find ways for Fu Manchu to clear his conscious and to try to make the lives of those he "bothered," to be better.
But, how do you do that when "bothering" is just another word for killing?
