In 1988, Holyoke, Massachusetts, was a once thriving city coping
with recession. Making it worse was the loss of Mountain Park,
the cityÕs beloved amusement park. From these seemingly grim
circumstances, a resident named John Hickey decided it was time
to turn those circumstances around by saving the parkÕs vintage
merry-go-round and placing it in the heart of the downtown area.
Featuring dozens of color photographs, this is the inspiring story
of that unprecedented effort which united a community
and saved an important part of their history.
