Gene Dillard didnÕt really have a plan, or perhaps, the plan found him. In the early 2000s, Gene Dillard acquired welding tools and proceeded to fill his front yard with metal sculptures. Eventually, he began to cover his garage with mosaic, and when that was done, he pulled the vinyl siding off the walls of his house and began to mosaic the house as well. Eventually, he built a 28-foot mirror-and-bottle-covered spaceship in his back yard. And that wasnÕt the end of it. The House with the Face on the Chimney tells the story of how one man worked to bring art to his neighborhood in Durham, North Carolina.
