Note: A different author by the same name who lived at the same time, Fr. John of Jesus and Mary, O.C.D. of Aravalles (1549-1609), wrote a book by the same title: Instruction of Novices. Both were contemporaries of St. John of the Cross, O.C.D. (1542-1591).
