Joey and Nate are on a journey, a journey of discovery and growth. They are learning first hand what it means to become men. The boys discover life's hard points, running away from the death of a mother, abandonment, an abusive father, and struggles with failures in life. No matter how far or fast they run, their past is a part of them, haunting them, allowing for no escape. Only when Elijah, a man of enormous wisdom and experience, takes the boys in, do they start to understand how pain in life can be overcome if faced.
