The Lambert Tapes represent a refreshing departure from the numbingly dry and mundane, history books. This text is history in the raw! These stories and accounts have been interpretively transcribed from a series of taped conversations with historian for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, Carl Glenn Lambert.
You should not be surprised to encounter radically differing views and knowledgably conclusions about certain published, and erroneously accepted accounts of Cherokee history. For example; Carl Lambert was a recognized authority on the Cherokee removal of 1838-39, and the formation of the Reservation at Cherokee, NC. He recites the history of William ThomasÕ long years of deals and legal entanglements with the Cherokees, and he relates the true account of the Tsali familyÕs ordeal during the removal. The authorÕs intent has been to transcribe and present these views and conclusions in the same spirit and manner that Carl intended.
