In these pages, youÕll see the streets and children of Khlong Toey, BangkokÕs most notorious slum. Khlong Toey is the type of place that doesnÕt have residents -- it has denizens. People are there because there is nowhere else for them, and their children become the forgotten ghosts of Bangkok. They live in abject poverty literally in the shadow of BangkokÕs hottest retail location where a single Bentley sold off the mall floor could more than make up for the total life earnings of the 50+ thousand residents of the slum. The slum is a trap from which most donÕt escape.
All proceeds will go to the abuse awareness project called Brave-Hearted Children. This project is at the core of the Mercy Center and is currently in the process of expanding to many different regions in Thailand as well. In this project, staff from different centers are taught how to properly educate parents and young children about abuse, its effects, and how to detect and stay away from it.
