The Moronica series was about a lovely, good natured, blond woman just trying to live her life. Because
she was not the brightest bulb in the pack Moronica would inevitably be spectacularly fired from every
job she applied for, hopefully before she drove her boss insane or inadvertently burned the place down.
In many ways Moronica was trying to tap into the same vibe as MY FRIEND IRMA.
Moronica was a back up feature that appeared in various humor titles published by both the PINES and
AMERICAN COMICS GROUP. An early prototype version of her had two early appearances in ACGÕs THE
KILROYS #8 and #10 in 1948. The stories and art were done by Milt Gross and it is easy to see why it was
quickly scrapped and eventually retooled. The new and improved Moronica debuted in PINEÕs STARLET
OÕHARA IN HOLLYWOOD with artwork by Owen Fitzgerald. That series lasted four issues. From there
Moronica, and Owen Fitzgerald landed at ACG where she would go on to appear in no less than three
different titles.
This collection includes MoronicaÕs appearances in THE KILROYS #8, 10, 23-32, 36 & 37, STARLET OÕHARA
IN HOLLYWOOD #1-4, DIZZY DAMES #1-6 and COOKIE #45 & 48.
This book was compiled with the best images currently available. That stated, these comics are over
seventy years old. The best efforts have been made to make the pages as enjoyable as possible but not
every panel is perfect and some allowances for the age of the books need to be considered when judging
the overall contents. The stories here were created in a less enlightened time and there are some
