Charles Walter Stansby Williams wrote seven novels popularly known as "supernatural thrillers". Toward the end of his life he began an eighth novel, called The Noises That Weren't There. He completed only three chapters. These chapters were published only once before, in the early 1970s in a fanzine known only to a few. The Noises That Weren't There is now made available to a general audience. This short book provides the first three chapters of another "supernatural thriller" by Charles Williams.
