Harold Centers, who has been a friendly neighbor, stellar student, and devoted son in the small town of East Hope, Maine, has landed his dream job with a major accounting firm in New York City.
Despite his parentsÕ apprehension, Harold accepts the position and heads to The Big Apple. While there, he meets and weds the love of his lifeÐ Regina Jennings, a native New Yorker and successful publicist. Harold loves Regina and has dreamed of providing her the life sheÕs always desired; but rage, resentment, and bitterness eventually consume the woman Harold once knew as happy and loving, and she becomes manipulative, controlling, and violent.
One fateful night changes everything, as the beautiful, petite Regina takes her last breath while lying in her 6-foot, 4-inch husbandÕs arms, knife pierced into her heart. Harold and his young attorney must prove to a jury of twelve that he has acted in self-defense. However, some are convinced that the incident was racially motivated.
