It is commonly thought that the New Testament writings predict the Advent or "Second Coming" of the Lord in terms of "time". Hence, "the time is near" is often conveyed as meaning that the end of the world is only a few years away. This assumption has created several problems for understanding the various authors of the New Testament and relating the message of the "kingdom of God is at hand" to our own day. Samuel M.
