This book traces the era of the development and maturation of one of the most important technological military advances of our age in the defense of our country, stealth. The need for evolving signature reduction into operational aircraft came about because of the heavy loss of allied aircraft from surface-to-air missiles taken by the Israeli Air Force during the Yom Kippur war. The book tells the story of the early development of the Have Blue and Tacit Blue aircraft and their successful development and flight test programs which proved beyond a doubt that the critically needed signature reduction could, in fact, be obtained. The value of this whole concept has been demonstrated by the attacks in the Desert Storm action in Iraq and subsequent engagements when they didnÕt know there were aircraft overhead until the bombs dropped on them. Their air defenses were largely ineffective. These historic stories are followed by individual stealth autobiographies of 130 Pioneers of Stealth.
