The Book of Hours, or Prymer, arose in the middle ages as supplemental devotions to be used by Religious and Clergy in addition to their official Liturgies. The simpler arrangement and more personal character quickly became popular with the laity, and books began to be produced explicitly for them.
Our Prymer contains all the historic core material, as well as several more modern devotions. It is hoped that it may serve as a supplement or introduction to the devotions of both laity and clergy of various liturgical rites.
