The Pull of the Tide is a history of the Crooked Island area of the southern Bahamas. Drawing on primary sources, the book describes many aspects of the people who have lived on or near this island, from native Americans, to the arrival of Christopher Columbus, to American Loyalist settlers and the horrors of slavery, to pirates. Through illustrations and the tales in the words of the people of each interesting period, Crooked Island comes alive.
