Simon Templar was a Robin-Hood style crimefighter, ruthless when he felt the need, and compassionate to those who deserved it. He always got the girl, and caught the bad guy, leaving him (or her much the worse for wear). The comic series (1948-1952) ran concurrent with the newspaper strips and came along long before the Roger Moore TV show.
