Fred Duker was born in 1917 in Hilo, Hawaii to Dutch parents who had settled in Hawaii with the sugar cane industry. He was the youngest of 4 children. The Duker family took an unforgettable trip around the world in 1934. Fred met the love of his life, Kay,on a ship returning to Hawaii. She was the only living child from a devout Mormon family in Ogden, Utah. They fell in love. Together they blended their two very different worlds and raised a family of three daughters. They lived in Hawaii during Pearl Harbor, California through the 50's and 60's, New York in the 70's and finally retired to Michigan.
