"This is My Body and Belongs to Me" was written to help parents, guardians, teachers and clinicians initiate communication about the prevention of sexual abuse and provide parents and guardians with proper responses.
Unfortunately, sexual abuse is a current epidemic, and we still struggle with talking about it. ÒStranger DangerÓ is commonly addressed in schools and homes; however, sexual abuse is a more common occurrence for youth, and most of the abuse is perpetrated not by a stranger but by a trusted friend or a family member. For this reason it is so important that we educate ourselves and our children.
This book is a great tool for opening a much needed dialogue and helping prevent child abuse.
