On 26th March 1616, according to the ACTS books of Holy Trinity Church, Thomas Quiney pleaded guilty to carnal copulation with Margaret Wheeler, who had died in childbirth a few days earlier. Thomas had been married but five weeks to Judith, Shakespeare's younger daughter, giving rise to the speculation that this event was crucial to the death of William Shakespeare. In his book, Reg Mitchell argues that Thomas Quiney has been much maligned by modern scholars and that the entry in the ACTS ooks may be a fake.
