Thumb-Chord Technique ÐFor
Guitar is a chord manual that teaches a method of
fretting chords using the thumb as an Ôextra fingerÕ across the lower
strings. Thumb-chords
were used famously by Jimi Hendrix and Django Reinhardt; other
guitarists (including Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton) also incorporated
thumb-chords into their playing. The inclusion of thumb-chords into your
general chording technique will greatly expand both accompaniment and solo
aspects of your guitar playing, providing a broader palette with which to
compose and improvise harmony.
