In his first large-scale solo exhibition in Baltimore, Timothy Horjus presents work that evoke the current condition of painting. Through an understanding of our current and social reality, Timothy uses the language of modernism in conjunction with more traditional references to discuss our reliance on digitally produced and transmitted information. He states, ÒThese paintings evoke a world constantly changing under the influence of new media. Through their use of a space that is conflated, fractured, and unstable, the paintings ask for a time of contemplation despite their ability to be Ôimmediately consumedÕ This is an evocation of the ambiguities of contemporary life.Ó
