'Tis the Seasonings', TTS, an Italian-American cookbook based on the recipes I have acquired from my mother, Josephine. In 1910, my grandmother and my mother left the municipality of Marina di Gioiosa Ionica, located in the Province of Reggio di Clalbria, Italy and arrived in America. The regional recipes came with her. Some recipes were in writing, while others were embedded in her mind.
Some of the recipes are taken from other cookbooks which may or may not have come from a relative or friend. Yet, all recipes come from someone, somewhere.
My mother was a contemporary chef of her era. She honored her heritage by becoming an expert in taste. She excelled in the art of preparing a variety of delicious dishes appealing to all walks of life. Her timeless recipes, with a few special dishes from family, made their way to my table.
