This book is about the unexpected twist of fate that landed her, a woman who was still quite young and far-removed from politics, into the Òmeat grinderÓ of Stalin's State terror after treachery of a ÒfriendÓ who reported her to the authorities. This occurred at the very beginning of 1935, and it was the only reason she came out of it intact.
Had it happened a year later, she wouldn't survived, and this book would never have been written. In '37-'38 all political offenders convicted of similar "crimes" were sentenced to death by firing squad.
