This project applies permaculture and ecological design principles to address a conservation issue at a university field station in Montana. It explores the exciting implications of these approaches for the challenges of water use in the West, species conservation, appropriate technology, community governance, and resilience planning in a rapidly changing world. Woven throughout are the themes of solutions and options, systems and scales, ethics and limits, abundance and scarcity, proposing a stream of thought and action for the benefit of the Centennial Valley and all those down the longest of rivers.
