The Ordo provides instructions on the Office according to the General Calendar and Rubrics of the Benedictine Confederation of 1960, published in the Monastic Breviary of 1963.
The core of the Ordo is a guide to the seasons, days and feasts of the monastic Office as set out in the Monastic Diurnal published by St Michael's Abbey, Farnborough, with cross-references to the Antiphonale Monasticum for those who wish to chant the Office (or follow podcasts of monasteries such as le Barroux).
The Ordo includes notes on common variants to these rubrics employed by several traditional monasteries. It also highlights selected feasts included in earlier versions of the monastic calendar that have been revived by some monasteries in recent years.
Cross-references have also been included to feasts of the 1962 Roman Missal (Extraordinary Form) not included in the 1960 monastic calendar, as well as to those of selected national calendars, selected saints canonized or beatified since 1962, and the newer calendar of the Benedictine Confederation.
