How do the big forces of world history shape our individual lives? Students in the 12th grade English at the Global Learning Collaborative were asked to creatively investigate how their personal lives and family histories had been shaped by public social forces. In doing so, they discovered that the biographical details which we so often regard as mere dead facts are, in reality, steeped in histories and controversies much larger than ourselves.
