Tunes and Texts: Songs for the Liturgical Seasons is a songbook integrated with a
useful lectionary. The book contains 18 original songs and 4 original festival songs
plus a listing of all the scripture passages that would be used during a three year
lectionary cycle. The songs are all cross-referenced, so they are easy to match with the
scripture lessons. Most of the songs would be perfect for several different scripture
readings and many of them would be appropriate for any worship service.
The songs are intended for tween singers, but could easily be adapted for adult
groups. They could also be used as congregational hymns or litanies. The
accompaniments are easy; many have guitar chords or optional instrument parts.
