This is my fourth year majorÕs thesis at the University of Virginia in the discipline of history. My aim was to discuss as much about amphibious assaults as possible in a limited space and time. One day I hope to expand on this literature by widening the scope to discuss all of modern amphibious warfare. Drawing only from my cursory glance at this profound aspect of military history, I expect to start that discussion at Galipoli in the First World War. Where I will end I cannot yet know.
