This publication consists of a collection of scholarly essays on Afghanistan submitted by
eminent Afghan scholars who participated as panelists in a Pazhwak Foundation sponsored
seminar via Zoom, 22 October 2023. The panelists were Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Liwal, Professor
Nasrullah Stankzai, Mr. Ehsan Lemar and Dr. Alema.
These academic essays are written in Dari and Pashto (AfghanistanÕs two national languages)
and cover four main topics under the seminar heading ÒThe Pazhwak (The word Pazhwak
means echo) of Afghan National Thoughts and Social Yearnings.Ó Ustad (Honorary title) Abdul
Rahman Pazhwak was a preeminent twentieth century Afghan poet, scholar, diplomat, and
statesman (1919-1995).
Pazhwak's poems and thoughts reflect the Afghan realities, potential, struggles and triumphs he
observed during his lifetime with candor and explicitness. His literary masterpieces in poetry
and prose offer a window into Afghanistan's culture, politics, folklore, and history. Additionally,
in the 1960s, he rose to prominence at the United Nations with his initiatives and objectivity,
striving to build a peaceful and free global system for all.

and WomenÕs RightsÓ are based on researching and analyzing Ambassador Pazhwak Ôs life,
ideals, and achievements.
