Saint Valentine has been arrested for marrying Christian couples, in violation of Roman Law. For this, he faces almost certain death.
However, his friendship with his jailer and, later, Emperor Claudius II, saves him from martyrdom. At least, until he begins to push his advantage and attempts to convert the Roman Emperor, himself.
