This is a collection of (images) original records found in the N.C. State Archives (Raleigh) pertaining to Road and Bridge petitions. These records provide details about old roads and bridges, as well as other detailed information - such as - economics, agriculture, commerce etc. Each petition was photographed, and then the detailed information was transcribed. However, Signatures were NOT transcribed. The transcribed material is then indexed and cataloged. Included with some of these petitions are hand-drawn maps, plats and even one of Brazier water-colored maps. There is one more box of records, that tend to be much more modern, may be photographed and transcribed at a later date.
