Are we seen or unseen?
Is this not the question we are all forced to answer in our lives? The question that reveals so many obstacles, goals and dreams that we have? Zooming in on a certain city, San Diego. What are San Diegans up against? It is deemed,ÒAmericaÕs Finest City?Ó, but what goes behind the beaches and the perfect weather?
The 7th graders of High Tech Middle Media Arts, (a.k.a, HTMMA, a project-based middle school in Point Loma), are determined to answer this question. They have embarked on a project, The VersUS project, that focuses on the hidden issues that revolve around San Diego. Using cartography, dichotomies, and the life of San Diego, these students will discover what they are truly up against in life. In What Are We Up Against?, M.L.J tries to capture the project as well as the beauty and brawn of San Diego, this place we call home.
