From being a wife, a mother, a daughter, and a university professor who has taught human development for over 35 years, I have learned a little about a lot, and a lot about a little. Here are the most important life lessons I have learned that I wish to Ôpay forwardÕ. Many were difficult for me to learn but, the lessons have proved invaluable. I hope that sharing these lessons with you is helpful, as you work to create the best you that you possibly can.
My students are tasked with writing 'A Letter To My Children", in which they project themselves forward, to the point in time when their own children are teenagers or young adults; what life lessons do they hope to pass on to them?
Give thought to what you wish to pass on to future generations. Plan for, and leave, a legacy. You may chose to author a poem, write a song, create a PowerPoint presentation, draw or paint a picture, or write and illustrate a childrenÕs book. However, a simple letter is equally effective. It doesnÕt have to cost a lot of money. You have learned many important lessons in your own life. Pass them along, as I am doing here.
