William Patterson Jelley -a True Officer and Gentleman.
Military combat pilot who commanded several squadrons and the Flying Wing at one of the two main Air Force bases in the Country. Decorated by the President of Rhodesia in recognition of his outstanding devotion and dedication to duty whilst Officer Commanding Flying Wing, New Sarum.
Bill was thanked by the Commander of the Air Force for achieving the highest standard of proficiency and discipline in the Squadrons under his command.
Bill Jelley remained in the aviation industry for a further twenty years as a commercial and corporate pilot.
Bill traveled extensively and has lived in Rhodesia / Zimbabwe / South Africa / Canada and New Zealand.
He was married to Margaret Jelley. They had two sons and two grandchildren. He leaves a rich heritage which will be treasured.
