A new opera (2017) based on the story of Winfrith, the charismatic Christian missionary who was murdered in 754. This is the full orchestral score of Act Two, 204 A4 pages, spiral bound. The action is based on history, and the words come from Anglo-Saxon writings, including letters to and from Winfrith. The opera explores the central ethical issue of religious extremism and its destructive impact on individuals, personal relationships and whole communities. This is an impassioned exploration of the perils of religious fundamentalism - as well as a poignant story of love and friendship.
