Winter Romance, for Flute, Viola and Piano, a little less than four minutes in length, is the composerÕs reintroductory or Ôwarm upÕ piece regarding the use of chamber instruments accompanied by the piano, after having shelved the practice of composition to instead work on updating his townhouse most of the summer and fall of 2021. The composer embraces retrograde, neoromantic writing throughout the work, allowing a dalliance to develop between the flute and viola on the advent of the winter season; perhaps distally referencing another work of his, featuring these instruments describing snowy scenes at a 19th century country cottage - such being entitled ÔWinter Ashgrove CottageÕ.
