Getting Superman On A Comic Book
(Inspired by ÒGetting It RightÓby Kevin Carey)
In super school I panicked, I felt the red hot panic on my face,
when the turns flew by in the row to do a drill.
Even when I memorized how to activate my powers
And practiced them over and over,
IÕd trip on the first move and be late a second
and someone would get hurt or die.
The awful feeling of not being there, the one
Thing I had to do and I failed, racing only a second
Too late to the crime. The people would question me,
But I had answers I knew were right
Yet I was afraid to do them.
Years later I got better at them and,
Became comic book legend and,
Flying through the sky over and over,
Rehearsing ÒEvery What ifÓ there is in the book,
Anticipating it to come up, my time,
A way to a way of getting another book
All based around me.
