The unique craft of drotarstvo (wire work) originated with people in the Povazie and Kysuce regions of Slovakia. Slovak wire craftsmen went with their children to different continents and countries throughout the world and demonstrated their craft. They made wire dishes, cups, shopping baskets and the first wire shopping carts in the United States. They also made elaborate toys for children, vases and delicate boxes, and they repaired clay vases, pots and pans.
The first group of Slovak immigrants who came to the United States were drotars. In this book you will meet a drotar hero, his name is Yarek-Dzharek.
