Each year, the Carnegie Center for Literacy & Learning in Lexington, Kentucky, invites young women in grades 9-12 to apply for the Young Women Writers Project. The project is a free series of intensive workshops dedicated to creative self-expression through writing. At the end of the program, the writers have the opportunity to mentor elementary-age girls and to publicly perform their writing, some of which is shared within this volume.
